Bliss Kolb has been designing and building wonderful things for over 30 years: custom cabinetry, furniture, theatrical stage sets & props, and video production design. Since 2010 he has turned to an early inspiration to create Automata, or mechanical moving creatures.
Born and raised in Seattle, he attended The Evergreen State College and The University of Washington, with additional classes in Musical Instrument Construction and Clock Repair. For many years he made his living performing theatrical comedy magic shows, on the West coast streets, at festivals, and in theaters across the United States and Canada. Throughout the years he has designed and built custom cabinets and furniture for architects, contractors and home owners. In the 1990’s he created many stage sets for Seattle fringe theater, and a touring set for the Flying Karamozov Brothers. In 1995 he co-created the acclaimed production The Yellow Kid at Seattle’s Annex Theater. He now lives and works in West Seattle in a house he built himself with longtime partner Susanna Burney.
